{"id":964,"date":"2016-02-23T19:30:14","date_gmt":"2016-02-23T18:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.medener.org\/en\/?p=964"},"modified":"2016-03-03T16:52:39","modified_gmt":"2016-03-03T15:52:39","slug":"medener-a-euro-mediterranean-platform-for-the-success-of-the-energy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.medener.org\/en\/medener-a-euro-mediterranean-platform-for-the-success-of-the-energy\/","title":{"rendered":"MEDENER, a Euro-Mediterranean platform for the success of the energy transition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ANME, National Agency for Energy Management in Tunisia saw on that occasion extended his mandate for one year Presidency.<\/p>\n<p>It was also an opportunity to take a rich balance sheet for 2015 and to present the 2016 outlook to accelerate the energy transition in the Mediterranean region.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2015 Report<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This year 2015 marks a turning point for MEDENER, who was entrusted the coordination of <a href=\"http:\/\/ufmsecretariat.org\/fr\/the-ufm-energy-platforms\/\" target=\"_blank\">the Union for the Mediterranean Platform <\/a>on Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy, co-chaired by the European Commission and the Jordan, in partnership with RCREEE (Regional Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy efficiency) and RES4MED (Association for Renewable Energy solutions in the Mediterranean).<\/p>\n<p>MEDENER has developed a work program to:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>1. Develop an <strong>observatory <\/strong>by the establishment of indicators to measure energy efficiency and renewable energy, called MED-IEE to monitor energy policies.<\/li>\n<li>2. Establishment of an <strong>resource center tools<\/strong>, methods and guides to good practices illustrating the monitoring and implementation of the legislative and regulatory framework of national plans for EE and RE (NEEAP and NREAP).<\/li>\n<li>3. Engage the <strong>private sector in financing projects<\/strong> accompanying the energy transition in the Mediterranean.<\/li>\n<li>4. Strengthen <strong>public awareness and the development of the capacity-building<\/strong> of stakeholders and notably in the building sector, representing over 40% of energy consumption in the Mediterranean.<\/li>\n<li>5. Develop a methodological approach for energy audits of SME acting in the euro Mediterranean region<\/li>\n<li>6. Develop <strong>energy transition scenarios<\/strong> for the deployment of energy efficiency and renewable energy in the Mediterranean region.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Rich of enhanced cooperation and expanded in 2015, MEDENER, with the support of ADEME has worked to build <strong>a scenario for the energy transition by 2040<\/strong> with the expertise of OME (Mediterranean Observatory energy) structured around three ambitious objectives :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>30% reduction in energy demand compared to a conservative scenario<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong> an energy mix of 28% renewable energy\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>a reducing emissions by 39% over the region Mediterranean<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">So many<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">partnerships, including<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">developed<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">CEFEB<\/span> <span class=\"hps atn\">(<\/span>AFD <span class=\"hps\">training center<\/span>), <span class=\"hps\">were used to develop<\/span><strong> <span class=\"hps\">a roadmap<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">on the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">capacity building\u00a0<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the actors<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the building sector<\/span> <\/strong><span class=\"hps\">including social housing<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">represents<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">one of the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">priorities for action<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">.<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Regional workshops<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">were also<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">organized with the participation<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">four<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">countries: Morocco<\/span>, Tunisia, Algeria <span class=\"hps\">and Lebanon.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hps\">2015<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">finally<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">saw <strong>an<\/strong><\/span><strong> <span class=\"hps\">evolution of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">statutes<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">MEDENER<\/span> <\/strong><span class=\"hps\">which led<\/span>, first <span class=\"hps\">by<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the establishment<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of a real<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">secretariat<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">now<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">provides the interface<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">with regional partners<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">donors<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">secondly,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">by developing<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">communication<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">tools<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in particular,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">its<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medener.org\/en\/\"> new website<\/a><\/span><span class=\"\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>2016 Prospects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">In 2016<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">according to the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">goal of accelerating<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the energy transition<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the region,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">MEDENER<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">activity<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">will result in<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the <strong>official launch of<\/strong><\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">EE &amp; RE<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">platform<\/span> <span class=\"hps atn\">(<\/span>in the first <span class=\"hps\">half of the year<\/span>) <span class=\"hps\">and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the implementation<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">key actions<\/span>: <\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\">strengthening <span class=\"hps\">the observatory<\/span> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.medener.org\/en\/activite\/observatory\/\"><span class=\"hps atn\">MED-<\/span>IEE,<\/a><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"hps\">quantification<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the scenario<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for the energy transition<\/span>, <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">accompanying<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">Mediterranean<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">communities<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">organizing<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">training workshops<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">dedicated<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">to the design and<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">financing<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of operations for<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">sector<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">building<\/span> <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span id=\"result_box\" class=\"\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"hps\">organizing of the<\/span><strong> <span class=\"hps\">4th international conference<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for the energy transition<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">scheduled<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in Algiers on<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">May 25<\/span><\/strong>, <span class=\"hps\">milestone<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">point<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">before<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">the organization<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">of the next conference<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">for the climate,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">COP<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">22<\/span>, <span class=\"hps\">in November,<\/span> <span class=\"hps\">in Marrakech, Morocco<\/span>.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>ANME, National Agency for Energy Management in Tunisia saw on that occasion extended his mandate for one year Presidency.
