Tunisia to launch SUNREF project
18 July 2018

With the support of AFD, the National Agency ANME is to launch a credit facility for promoting energy efficiency and renewable energy.

Tunisia’s National Agency for Energy Conservation ANME is preparing to launch a SUNREF (Sustainable Use of Natural Resources and Energy Finance) programme in the country. Thanks to the French Development Agency (AFD), this green financing scheme has become an integral part of the environmental context of energy transition, encouraging local financial institutions to provide financing for projects to protect the environment and improve energy efficiency in Tunisia’s business sector

“SUNREF in Tunisia” is still in its early stages, the contract having been signed and the steering committee named. The ANME is now in the process of choosing the consultancy to assist with the line of credit.

A previous line of credit worth €40M –provided thanks to a partnership with two local private banks, the UBCI and BIAT- had enabled the financing of eighteen industrial projects over the 2009-2012 period.
