Mr. Gianluca Calabretta, MEDENER’s new President
MEDENER is pleased to announce the appointment of its new President, Mr. Gianluca Calabretta, Acting Director General at ENEA (the Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development), as President of MEDENER, at the General Assembly of the Association, held on 16 July 2026 in Brussels, Belgium.
The General Assembly members, representatives of MEDENER agencies and institutions from across the Mediterranean, congratulated Mr. Calabretta and reiterated MEDENER’s strategic vision of serving as a platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and joint action among Mediterranean countries.
In his first remarks, Mr. Gianluca Calabretta thanked the Assembly for the confidence entrusted to him and reaffirmed his commitment to leading MEDENER in collaboration with its members and regional and international partners.
Under the leadership of the new President, MEDENER will continue strengthening cooperation among its members, promote the exchange of expertise and best practices, support the implementation of energy efficiency and renewable energy policies, and foster partnerships with regional and international organizations. MEDENER will also continue its leading role in coordinating the Covenant of Mayors for the Mediterranean (CoM Med), empowering local authorities to advance sustainable energy and climate action across the region.
