Workshop with key Mediterranean energy stakeholders

On the 13th of April, MEDENER together with OME and RES4MED have taken part in the workshop organized by MEDREG, to exchange about the measures to put in place, in particular for the regulators for the promotion of energy efficency and renewable energy in the Mediterranean region.

The CNMC, spanish regulator, MEDREG renewable energy sources working group co-Chair and member of MEDREG (Mediterranean Energy Regulators) welcomed this workshop “Deploying renewable energy sources and energy efficiency measures in the Mediterranean: State of play and way forward”. All day long the regional organization’s representatives MEDENER (Association of national agencies), OME (the Observatoire Méditerranéen de l’Energie), and RES4MED (Association for renewable energy) have discussed their view and project with MEDREG to promote the integration of renewable energy in the grib and the development of energy efficiency measures in the Mediterranean region.

Mr. Manuel Sainz Andrés from IDAE (Institut for the Diversification and Saving of Energy, spain), representative of MEDENER recalled the importance of the association and of its commitment to strenghten the euro-Mediterranean cooperation in order to achieve in particular, the goals of the scenario by 2040 (energy mix of 27% renewable energy and 30% reduction in energy demand compared to a standard conservative scenario) developed in partnership with OME.
